A couture wedding gown with a fairytale design style
Lia was recommended to me by a friend. After designing and making Lia’s first dress she went on to make many more with me. I got to know Lia well before she was planning a wedding.
One day I received a call and Lia said guess what? “I’m getting married!” I was so thrilled for her. Tying the knot with the one you love is the best experience to encounter.
This was official, a wedding was going to take place in the months ahead and I couldn’t wait to get started on designing and creating something unforgettable.
Lia was a very sexy and gorgeous young lady. She knew what she liked. I had been designing for Lia for a few years and by now knew her style really well.
A fairytale wedding fit for a princess was in the making. I loved designing for Lia as she allowed me to push my creative boundaries because she loved and appreciated art and the artists. The plan was a fairytale wedding with mystery that reflected history.
Designing and making the whole bridal party included;
- The wedding Gown
- Mother of the Bride
- Mother of the groom
- 3 x Bridesmaids.
The bridesmaids were made in dutchess silk satin using soft pastel tones, each colour chosen to complement the individuality of the girls. The bouquets were made using venetian handmade masks with feathers instead of traditional flower bouquets.
Lia’s wedding dress was Custom Couture, every detail was personalised from start to finish. Her wedding gown was fit for a princess, a fairytale wedding gown she could enjoy wearing and remember forever. Every bride deserves to feel gorgeous and stand out like a princess on her wedding day.
The design process and hours that went into Lia’s wedding dress was worth the end result. Lia’s dress used 30 metres of duchess silk satin. The layered peplums finished with fur detail around the hem which gave a warm winter feel. The belt on the front and the heart shaped cut out on her back was emphasised using large Swarovski crystals. The hand beaded Swarovski bolero had a high collar that sat close to the back of her neck with extended shoulders influenced by Karl Lagerfeld, a cutting edge Designer.
Lia was able to change up the look of her wedding dress by removing her bolero, turning the wedding dress into a strapless wedding gown.

What is a custom made wedding dress?
A custom made piece of clothing is designed so that it is the same size and shape as your body. It can emphasise all of your elegant features perfectly. In this example it was also created with a skirt that could be detached.

At Catherine Colubriale we offer a choice for our clients whether they require a wedding dress, evening gown or something unique for a special event.
You can choose a dress design from our House Collection which will then be adjusted to suit your body size or you can opt for a completely Custom Couture design which is a one off creation.
