At our Sydney atelier, a bespoke evening gown starts from $3,500, the same as a bespoke bridal gown. Where your gown sits above that depends on the fabric, the embellishment and the construction. Every gown is quoted individually, and the booking form offers three budgets: $3,500 to $5,000, $5,000 to $10,000, and $10,000 plus.

What changes the price of a custom evening gown?

Fabric

Pure silks such as duchess satin, dupion, organza and georgette cost far more per metre than synthetics, and French and Italian laces are priced well above machine laces. Volume matters: a mini uses a fraction of the fabric of a ball gown with a full skirt. Velvet, Chantilly lace and metallic embroidered fabrics are among the more costly choices. Our evening gown fabrics guide explains each.

Embellishment

Hand-beading, sequins, pearls, embroidery and lace placed motif by motif all take hours. A gown with embellishment across the whole body takes far longer than one with a single detailed area.

Construction

A boned corset, a tiered skirt, a sculpted ruffle or bow, a train or a full skirt all add pattern-making, fabric and fittings. Look 8, The finale, combines a black Chantilly lace corset with a tiered silk dupion skirt: both take skill and time. Simple fluid shapes cost less to make, though they show any poor sewing.

What about the Evening Couture Collection?

  • The Evening Couture Collection: four New York Fashion Week looks, made to order to your measurements in four to six weeks. Like bespoke, collection gowns start from $3,500 and are quoted at your consultation. The difference is time and design, not price band.

If your event is sooner than four to six weeks away, call the atelier on +61 2 9922 4193 to talk through your timing.

Our guide to custom vs ready to wear evening gowns compares the options.

What does the price include?

For a bespoke gown, your quote covers the design and hand-drawn sketch, all fabric and materials (we source everything), the toile, three to five fittings and the finished gown. There are no hidden costs. The only extra cost is changing the design or fabric once your gown is in production, and we discuss that with you first.

How does payment work?

  1. Consultation, $150. Paid when you book, credited in full to your gown, and movable free of charge with 48 hours’ notice.
  2. Your quote. Your gown is quoted individually once the design is agreed.
  3. 50% deposit. Paid at booking to begin the design.

How can I make my budget go further?

  • Tell us your real budget at the start, so the design is made to fit it.
  • Choose one hero detail: a neckline, a colour, a split or a lace.
  • Put the most precious fabric where it shows.
  • Consider a simpler silhouette.
  • Start early, so there is time for the best choices. See our fittings and timeline guide.

Mothers of the bride and groom often ask about cost too: our mother of the bride page explains the same routes. To talk through your budget, book a consultation or read about bespoke evening gowns in Sydney.
