"...an elegant and classic bride..."
A custom made tulle wedding dress with lace
Samantha was recommended to come and meet me through her friends. She was so sweet to work with and had a beautiful personality. After meeting Sam and her lovely mother, we settled down over a cup of coffee. I showed Samantha some bridal lace. She fell in love with my Couture House floral lace, a classic and timeless piece of 3D beaded lace.
I began the creative process by asking Sam some questions about her hopes and dreams for her wedding dress, what was the theme, was it a big or small wedding? Most importantly what she liked to wear and what she didn’t like to wear.
After delving into a few questions, it was very obvious that Sam was a very elegant and classic bride. I started to sketch her wedding gown using the 3D floral lace as the inspiration. She was happy for the dress to be sexy but modest.
I created a vee neckline bodice that was fitted emphasising her waistline. The back of the bodice had a low scooped neckline with heavily embellished lace that covered her entire bodice and cascaded down the front of the tulle skirt and the back of the skirt. The skirt used 30metres of soft tulle finishing with a cathedral train.
Samatha’s wedding dress was accessorised with a 6 metre veil that was hand beaded using the 3D floral lace complimenting the finished look for her big day. We went on to design and make her mother’s gown and the flower girl dresses.
Samantha used our services on her wedding day where I was able to be by her side while she was getting dressed and ready to embark on her new journey.
What did the bride think about her dress?
“Catherine was amazing to work with. The moment I met her, she brought my dream wedding day dress to life, to the very end of dressing me on my wedding day. Her warm, honest nature made the experience absolutely amazing. Thank you so much Catherine for making my experience beautiful.”

A few common questions
What is tulle for a wedding dress?
Tulle is a very popular choice of fabcric commonly used for veils, evening gowns or wedding dresses. Most people will remember tulle from being used in ballet tutus.
Tulle is available in a wide array of colours making it a very versatile fabric to design with. Tulle is not the same as netting. Tulle is essentially a special type of netting with a lower denier, which means the individual fibres are finer. Tulle is lighter than netting, and the spaces between threads are smaller.
Tulle is typically made from three different types of material: silk, rayon and nylon. Silk tulle is delicate, soft, and works well with a wedding dress or bridal gown clothing application that we design regularly.
