Jamie is the daughter of my very good friends. I had the pleasure of watching her grow up into the most beautiful, caring young lady. She is very special to me and when she asked me to design her wedding dress and bridal party gowns, I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to get started.
We began by looking at lots of different laces and fabrics for inspiration. Jamie’s style was elegant and dramatic. A high-class wedding was about to be created.
I sketched a few ideas that suited her style. Her petite frame suited a straight, classic dress with the emphasis on Italian embroidered lace, used all over the body of her tube-style gown for an elongated look and feel.
Jamie wanted a train but didn’t feel a heavy satin would be her style, so I suggested double silk organza for a detachable overskirt. It was lightweight and easy to carry, even at six metres, and embellished with the same Italian lace to complete the look.
I went on to design her three bridesmaids in fitted bodices and pencil skirts, covered in nude 3D floral lace cascading over an organza peplum, very sexy and modern. The mother of the bride wore a gorgeous blue to complement her eyes: imported Italian lace over a one-shoulder tube dress, finished with a satin bow.
The whole bridal party looked magnificent and I was so lucky to have shared this journey.
